Nha Trang | Weekend Getaway - Day 2

Continuing with my adventure to Nha Trang during one quick weekend! 

These are some tips for you when visiting Vinpearland Nha Trang, before you get bored of my gibberish haha. 

1. Since you pay almost $30 for visiting Vinpearl Land, prepare to spend the whole day exploring everything, make the most our of your money (10.30AM to 7PM preferably like we did).

2. Bring your swimsuit! You are not permitted to play those ride in the water park not wearing proper swimsuit. And the rides are extremely fun, one did hurt my ass a lot but overall fun fun. 

3. Have a huge breakfast! Anything you can eat, so you won't be so hungry in Vinpearl Land. The drinks are priced quite reasonably, but the food is really expensive, and it tasted awful (well it did taste good those sausages at the water park gate, since we were so hungry after 2 hour dipping in water fun. However, we didn't eat anything since the breakfast). The 2 sausages costed 60,000VND I tell ya! ( ⚆ _ ⚆ )

4. Lastly, have a lot of fun! σ(≧ε≦ｏ)

Here's my diary :P

I woke up at 6am, surfing the Internet as usual and came across a warning that there was a huge storm coming to the East Sea, and we practically lived among the beach. 'Man there goes my holiday', I was thinking. Fortunately, it was the nicest Saturday, no rain, all sunny all day, thank you God!

We came down to 3rd floor to have the fabulous breakfast buffet. The breakfast was delicious, combining Western and Vietnamese food. The waffle altogether with butter and maple syrup was exceptionally delicious, I ate 4 big pieces with crapload of butter. The waiters looked at me with strange eyes seeing how much butter I took haha, no shame! I did eat some of the sausages with potatoes soup mimicking the wonderful Louisiane's dish last night. 

We wanted to keep the transportation cost at the lowest, so renting a bike was the best choice. Reading some of the review online, I called an uncle who was commented to be very friendly, honest and gentle. The daily rate was 80,000VND for a gear scooter without gas, we paid 150,000VND for almost 2 days, quite okay since the hotel rate was nearly double. I did not get his name even I called him for a few times (I'm such a jerk!) but if you want to rent a motorbike in Nha Trang, he is the guy.

The Vinpearl Land ticket was 600,000VND buying directly at the entrance, the renting scooter uncle sells those too, but 15,000VND cheaper so we bought 2 from him as well.

And btw you can leave the scooter overnight at the hotel, mine was really friendly but probably asked the reception first before renting any. But I believe they would be happily ok for you to leave the scooter at their basement.

There was a gas station on the way to Vinpearl, it's on the right if you go along Tran Phu Street. 20,000VND was enough (1 and 2/3 day) for our gear scooter because it is very fuel efficient. 

We parked our scooter in the parking lot, the fee is about 2000VND, make sure to take the scooter ticket (which evidently shows that you did park your scooter there to show to the security guys) and pay the money upfront.

At 10.30 we reached the cable station. The security will check your bags for food and drink since you are not allowed to bring them from outside to the theme park. My bag was considerably small, (like a kindergarten bag, some people commented) so the security lady didn't even bother checking! Score! Except didn't score anything since I didn't bring any food at all, not even drinks!

The cable ride was 15' to Vinpearl Island. There weren't many people that day and we could have the cable car all for ourselves ! Lucky us!

We went to play those indoor games first. I LOVE LOVEEE the 4D ride, since I was a little kid so obviously we queued there first. But the ride has become very old now, and frankly I couldn't see anything for the whole time. The video image was unclear, dull and dark. And only the English speakers could understand what was going on because the voice was in English as well. But we did pay for the whole package then so shall oblige to play everything. 

My friend and I are really impatient people so we could not play any game until end. As soon as any game started, we walked away :)). We stayed there for maximum 30 minutes. Made a bunch of Gopro videos (and they are lost because of the stupid Gopro, can't stress that enough T___T). 

We then walked our ways to the most interesting ride of the park, it's called Vinpearl Alpine Coaster.

So basically there are two handles on both sides. You push them to the front, the car will accelerate due to gravity pull (I do remember physics, or don't I), and pull them backwards to brake. I did manage to video the scenery while the car was being pulled up. The ride going down was fun but sometimes scary everytime I did those turns.

Warning though, if your companion is one of those people who love speed then let them go first. Why I said that? Because my stupid, impatient flat butted friend just kept yelling me to speed up and pissed the crap out of me ಠ_ಠ. We fought for the next 30' haha, I was so angry. Here's a picture of that butt-face (if you're reading this, yes I'm still mad at you!).

My most favorite part of Vinpearl must be the aquarium, as they call it under water world. Back in 2010 when I first went there with my high school peeps, there was nothing much to see in there, the fishes were normal and so was the design. The only reason we went into it because of the air conditioner :)), little break from the extreme sun. It surprised me this time!

We spent 40' looking at fishes swimming around, and I have ever felt so relaxed in my life. I said to myself if I ever earn enough, I would spend whole week once a year to swim and dive in the ocean looking at little fishies swimming around. 

The next highlight of Vinpearl is the water park, it's not Saigon Water Park (I know, it's ages ago) or even Dam Sen Park, but it indeed was fun. The beach was located there as well, the best beach the most peaceful beach I adore. Nha Trang's beaches are mostly very steep, three steps and the sea level is already at your waist, but Vinpearl one was man made and really shallow, which I like. The water was so blue and the sky is so clear. Urghh, just heaven! 

Before you go have fun, make sure to put all your stuff in the locker. Each locker costed 10,000VND, keep the paper the lady gave you so you can have your stuff back later. The locker for technology, expensive stuff should go into those lockers behind the ladies at the counter. Other stuff you can leave in other normal lockers.

At 5pm, we went to see dolphin show, which lasted for 20' I think, was not that long. Something that I didn't know exist before. The show was funny, and very gentle for the mind after the whole day running, fighting (if you travel with friends haha). The seals and the dolphins are always the cutest. One thing constantly popped up in my head, how much fun the trainers have working with the most adorable friends like those cuties. So you must attend the show!

After the show, we were pretty exhausted, walking real slow to catch this scene, and of course shall take mandatory photo :P. 

On the way back to the cable station, we decided to relive our childhood with this ride. 

And while riding it, I saw a couple were prepared to play some kind of Bungy Jump. It looked really fun and apparently nobody knew you could play it. We got off the horsie ride as soon as it stopped and ran so fast to the Bungy Jump, it locates nearby. We saw the couple played for 7 or 8 minutes (see video) 

It looks like fun right? It was really really fun, but one thing is it hurt my thighs a lot. However, the pain was somewhat bearable and the joy was off the hook. It's something I have never ever tried before. This only opens after 5.30 to 7.30PM (that was what I remembered). So if you stay late, come check it out. We played for about 5' and the protective gear was hurting me so I begged the operator to stop haha.

Florence, Ý | Thành phố lịch sử đáng yêu

Florence là thành phố duy nhất ở Ý mà mình thích trong chuyến đi lần này. Tại sao? 

Thứ nhất, Florence nhỏ vừa nhưng đủ để ai đến cũng có cái nhìn đậm nét về văn hoá Roman, chỉ có vài điểm tham quan nên đi bộ khá thoải mái không đến nỗi mỏi chân. 
Thứ hai, Florence không có đông, xếp hàng dã man như là những thành phố du lịch khác, đặc biệt là chị Rome.
Thứ ba, người ở Florence không có dữ và kinh dị như ở Rome, lại là chị ấy.


Lúc đến Florence là cũng trưa rồi, sau khi đã đậu xe xong, cả nhà đi theo bản đồ đến cây cầu nổi tiếng. Thời điểm đó ai cũng đói bụng, và muốn ăn thử đồ Ý nên thấy quán pizza bên đường thì an toạ luôn, nguyên đoàn tuỳ tùng xào xáo nguyên dãy bàn ngoài lề đường. 

Quán pizza này tên là Tre Merli Ristorante Pizzaria . Quán đúng chất Ý mà đặt biệt là có wifi miễn phí (1 điều rất quý hiếm ở châu Âu, cả nhà ai cũng nháo nhào hỏi pass wifi). Phục vụ ở đây rất cu-te và hay ghẹo mấy đứa nhỏ vui lắm.

Lúc gọi món thì hỏi là phần pizza bao nhiêu người ăn được, anh bồi bàn tươi cười nói 1 người ăn thôi à, tụi bây nhiêu người thì kêu nhiêu cái đi. Thế là từng người lựa háo hức lắm cho đến khi cái đầu tiên ra là thấy ứ hự rồi, vì 1 cái bự lắm, chưa kể toàn phô mai ăn cũng ngán nữa. Dòm qua anh phục vụ nãy nói bự quá mày, bỏ lại mấy cái order nha, sao ăn nổi mà ổng cứ cười. Nhưng mà mình nhớ mình ăn hết cả 1 cái luôn, hình như còn ăn thêm mấy miếng nữa :)). Giá cho mỗi cái là 10 euro.

Trong lúc ăn thì mình tranh thủ gọi điện thoại cho 'bạn thân' ở Úc, vì sợ đến khách sạn không có wifi, với trái giờ người ta ngủ mất rồi. Mà ngặt nỗi là ngồi ngoài lề đường thì không có sóng, phải lên tít nhà vệ sinh mới có. Mình cứ đứng lanh quanh chỗ đó ai ra vô đi xì trum cũng dòm ái ngại :)). Đúng là đi xa mới thấy wifi + 3G ở Việt Nam là không đâu sánh bằng, qua trời Tây kiếm được như bắt được vàng. 

Sau khi ăn xong thì cả nhà cùng di chuyển ra Ponte Vecchio, nghĩa là Cầy Cầu Cũ. Đây là cây cầu cổ nhất ở Florence. Nói về lịch sử thì người ta chỉ đề cập đến việc nó bị sập và xây lại thôi :)), mình cũng không hiểu vì sao nó nổi tiếng nữa. Nhưng mà phải nói là cây cầu này có một không hai, và cũng rất đẹp. À giờ mình đã hiểu vì sao haha! 

Sau khi chụp chán chê cây cầu thì mọi người di chuyển đến điểm tiếp theo, Basilica di Santa Croce. Đây là nhà thờ Thánh Francis chính ở Florence và lớn nhất trên thế giới, và cũng là nơi yên nghỉ của những nhân vật Ý nổi tiếng như là Michelangelo, Galileo. Cấu trúc toà nhà khá bề thế, và được chạm trổ siêu chi tiết, quá trình xây mất khoảng 1 thế kỷ.

Đi 1 chút thì có tiệm kem rất rất là đông nên cả đoàn dừng lại mua kem. Mình có tình yêu mãnh liệt với chocolate mint nên đi ăn ở đâu cũng chỉ mua vị này. Kem ở Ý thì mình nghĩ chỗ nào cũng ngon cả, nên mọi người thấy chỗ nào đông thì cứ vô mua.

 Hôm mình đi là trước nhà thờ có công trình thi công nên không chụp toàn cảnh được.

Basilica di Santa Croce

Mình có mấy tấm zoom lại chi tiết mà vẻ mặt của các tượng được chạm trổ, mình nhìn hơi sợ nên cũng không up nhiều T___T. Muốn vô bên trong xem thì phải xếp hàng và hoàn toàn miễn phí, hầu như Nhà thờ lớn nào của Ý cũng vậy. Vì vậy hàng lối vào trong tham quan chỗ nào cũng dài mấy ngàn dặm, nhìn vào là ngán trề môi ra nên chỉ có một Bác vào trong thôi, mọi người khác thì tranh thủ shopping, còn mình thì đứng dòm qua lại :)).

Điểm tham quan cuối cùng ở Florence là nhà thờ gần điểm giữ xe, Basilica of Santa Maria Novella. Nhà thờ này thuộc về giáo phái Dominican, nằm kế bên trạm xe lửa chính cùng tên của thành phố. Vì thắc mắc sự khác nhau giữa Franciscan và Dominican nên mình tìm hiểu, mình nghĩ chắc ai không rành cũng sẽ tò mò. Đơn giản thì 2 giáo phái này đều thờ Chúa, nhưng họ có lý tưởng và định hướng riêng. Franciscan chú trọng vào tầng lớp nghèo còn Dominican thì quan trọng hơn về truyền đạo, giảng dạy về đạo Chúa. Nếu muốn chi tiết hơn thì các bạn có thế tham khảo ở đây (bằng tiếng Anh, vì mình bó tay không biết dịch ra tiếng Việt như thế nào).

Mình cũng có ý muốn tham quan nhưng mình nhớ là phải trả phí nên cũng đi ra. Thật ra nhớ mang máng là cũng có vô nhưng không có hướng dẫn viên. Thôi nói chung già cả quên dòi! Mà lạ là không có mấy ai vô coi nên không có hàng dài thường thượt như nhà thờ kia. 

Dọc mặt bên có mấy anh người Trung Đông (mình đoán vây) bán túi hiệu cũ, nhiều người nói là đồ không rõ nguồn gốc như thế nào đó, nên ai thấy thì né ra nha, thấy rồi lờ đi đừng có dòm dòm vô mắc công nó thấy nó theo chào mời, rất là phiền. Hôm đi cũng có mấy nhóm người kêu mọi người qua lại ký ra vô cái gì đó, ai thấy cũng đi lẹ lờ đi không dính líu có chuyện gì cảnh sát hốt :)). Ở Ý hay Pháp hay thấy mấy vụ này lắm, nên đi du lịch nhớ chú ý cẩn thận nhe! 

Lúc đi được tới nhà thờ này là ai cũng đuối hết, phần vì nắng rất gắt, đi bộ đường dài và đợi chờ cũng khá là mệt nên mọi người đều chạy về lấy xe lẹ lẹ để nghỉ. Kết thúc tham quan Florence, và tiến về Roma. 

Nha Trang | Weekend Getaway - Day 1

Hi hi! The trip was 2 days ago and I cannot get over the fact that it was over. I shall write my feeling down before all the memories wash away like they did with my Europe vacation last year *sob*. It was planned not long ago, 3 weeks before hand. I was really desperate for a vacation, partly because I hadn't had one for months and largely because I graduated so I deserved one. After quite a few times nagging, someone finally agreed to come with me.

Transportation

We booked our flights with Atadi.vn since we did not have much time to go by bus, I guess I thought the tickets were okay since they costed 1.3 mil VND. But people said they were too expensive just to go to Nha Trang so it kinda made me crunch a little bit hearing that. We departed from Ho Chi Minh City with Vietjet and flew back to HCMC with Jetstar.

We arrived at the Cam Ranh International Airport at 3pm and took the 45 minute shuttle bus to central Nha Trang. Each ticket costed 130,000VND. The ticket counter is easily spotted with a crowd since there are other people who prefer to take the bus, located right at the arrival door. You can also take the taxi which would cost 350,000VND, if you go in group of 4, it'd cost cheaper and arrive at your hotel's location. Alana Hotel was 1km away from where we arrived: 86 Trần Phú, Nha Trang, it took us 10 minutes walking there.

Accomodation - Alana Hotel 

The place we intended to stay was a boutique hotel, it has pretty good reviews in Booking.com, and only costed 330,000VND per night. I personally called them up and secured our booking but when we got there, the receptionist told us that other guests extended their stay and she could not kick them out. She booked another room for us in different hotel, saying it is modern and decent. It was pretty bad when we got there since the hotel was old and not up to our expectation! So we decided to cancel and booked Alana Hotel, a 4 star hotel right opposite of the initial hotel instead. The cost for 2 nights was way higher than our budget, more than 2 mil VND, but the room was so worth it. The decoration, the atmosphere, the breakfast, the staff, the pool, anything was perfect. The only trouble was the shampoo bottle was made from china, the cap did not stick to the bottle at all, it slipped and broke when I carelessly put the bottle down. The cap costed 42,000VND alone T__T, but I was expecting much higher than that so the guilt wasn't that bad. I didn't take any picture cos we made such a mess right after checking in so too embarrassed to show haha, here are some pictures I took from Alana Hotel in Booking.com . The official price was more than 2 mil/night, so you need to call them up to ask for more cheaper deal, we stayed 2 nights and they gave us 50% off.

We were so exhausted with hotel booking thing above and when we could finally see our home for the whole trip, we chilled for another 2 hours and so dread to go out. The room was so cozy, I mean look at it! 

Nha Trang's must try specialty 

At 7pm, finally we came to our sense that we could just not waste time at the hotel since we only have the weekend here, and got up to explore the night life and especially the food. The first stop was Nem nuong Ngoc Tien, 59 Lê Thành Phương (we paid 40,000VND to get there by taxi), it sells a local and extremely delicious dish. You wrap everything in the rice paper, dip in the special sauce and eat. We finished two dishes in less than 15' and costed 80,000VND which to us was pretty decent.  

After that we took a 1.2km walk to Nha Trang Center, which locates in Trần Phú, buying some necessity from the supermarket, particularly Smirnoff :)). Sadly, there was none, I was so angry and desperate for one lemonade Smirnoff, so we just ended up buying two 1-litre mineral bottles. Our hotel is exactly2 km away from the Center so we decided to walk along Trần Phú Street. 

Nha Trang's night life was so vibrant and colorful. There were so many bars, stores, and two night markets selling everything, along this coastal street. I kept thinking if I had a house in this street just selling potatoes, I would make a fortune haha. We filmed everything with the Gopro and the stupid SD went broken, I felt like there is no hope in the universe for me for a while now, I mean *burst into tears*. 

One more thing I noticed is that there were so many foreigners, especially Russians. I somehow felt like I was walking among the Nice beach with me being the little asian girl among the giants haha. 

Lousiane Brewhouse

We came back to our hotel at 8.45pm and watched Iron Man 3 until 11pm, being lazy asses :)). My travel buddy was so hungry and crave for German sausages and beer so we went to Louisiane Brewhouse. I planned to go there since I read a review online of another travel fellow and in Tripadvisor. The place was 5 minute walk away, it apparently opened until 1am on Friday and weekend probably, you gotta ask (it says somewhere opening til 11pm so we were really afraid and disappointed of not being able to have the sausages haha). Louisiane was really beautiful, located right next to the beach. There was live music but when we arrived there, the band had already sung the last song. So if you want to enjoy the wonderful music, go there at 8.30pm or at least earlier than we did. 

We ordered 4 flavoured beer set and German sausages with smashed potato. The bill was 285,000VND in total. The beers were different from all the beers I have drunk, you have to experience them yourself cos I can't really describe. For me the tendering sausages did really compliment the them, the combination was really perfect I must say, and for that price, I mean perfect! 

We sat there for an hour and walked along the beach back to our hotel. The atmosphere was so romantic and relaxing, something that I have never felt for many years, a perfect ending for the first day of my getaway.

Hoofddorp, Hà Lan | Little Lovely Suburb

Đây là nơi của Bác mình sống và cũng là nơi mình ở vào những ngày đầu và cuối ở Châu Âu, nằm cách sân bay Schiphol chỉ 10' đi xe. Hoofddorp là một suburb của Hà Lan, dịch tiếng Việt ra là ngoại ô nhưng mình nghĩ nên gọi là một thành phố nhỏ thì sẽ thích hợp hơn. Vì chưa bao giờ thấy ngoại ô nào mà xịn như Hoofddorp cả, ít nhất là ở Việt Nam mình chưa thấy hehe.

Lần đầu tiên đặt chân đến Hoofddorp là vào năm 2009, và 6 năm sau trở lại thì mình không thấy có sự thay đổi nào đáng kể về những khu nhà và phong cảnh chung quanh. Đó cũng là lý do mình thích Hoofddorp cũng như châu Âu, đi đâu thì đi, bao năm quay lại vẫn thế, giống như là nó vẫn còn như vậy cho mình khám phá tiếp bắt đầu từ những điểm còn bỏ dở lần đi trước. Ở Sài Gòn thì khác, đi 6 tháng thôi là đã thấy lạ lẫm rồi.

Nhà ở Hoofddorp nhỏ và rất dễ thương, một điều mình luôn thấy ở mọi nơi là hoa và cây cỏ luôn hiện diện. Một sự hoà hợp bình yên và đáng yêu biết chừng nào, và nếu mình có cơ hội được ở riêng và dư dả một xí (và có quốc tịch Hà Lan =)) ), thì đây chính là nơi mà mình mong muốn được sống. Vừa xinh vừa yên tĩnh vừa tiện lợi vì siêu thị kế bên. Và điều mình muốn nhấn mạnh là khi bộ trên đường, mình chỉ thấy được sự an toàn tuyệt đối và rất là thanh thản không phải dòm ngó coi có ma nào đang muốn giựt túi mình. Bác mình cũng hay nói, bọn trẻ lớn lên bên đây hầu như rất ngây thơ vì môi trường hằng ngày quá an toàn luôn. Thật ghen tỵ T__T.

Điều thứ ba mình thích nhất ở thành phố nhỏ này là không có khách du lịch đông đúc vì không có chỗ nào để tham quan hết ngoại trừ mua sắm, hoặc là có thì cũng như mình có người nhà ở đây nên đi quanh quanh thôi. Nếu bạn yêu thích được nổi bật, một người da vàng, cao chỉ 1m6 và tóc đen trong rừng người da trắng, cao 1m9 và tóc vàng thì bạn rất thích hợp ở nơi đây haha. Nói chứ lâu lâu mình cũng thấy vài người châu Á, nhưng cảm giác rất thích thú khi mình là một trong những sinh vật lạ số ít tại nơi này.

Suy cho cùng thì sau một vài ngày ở đây, mình cũng nhớ Sài Gòn náo nhiệt, nơi có đủ nơi ăn uống và chỗ dạo chơi. Nhưng đổi lại được sự bình yên và tĩnh lặng ở nơi này thì thật không đâu cho mình cảm giác đó được, và nếu như ai đó có cơ hội được đến  ở thành phố bé tí này vài ngày, hy vọng rằng bạn cũng có cảm giác đó giống mình :).
